This book by Nicholas Leach tells the stories of medal winning rescues as well as the tragedy which saw the loss of eight Longhope lifeboat crew on 17th March 1969. It looks at the history and the development of the lifeboat stations in Stromness, Kirkwall, Longhope and Stronsay. It is a celebration of the generations of volunteer lifeboat crews from around Orkney and their role in the 21st century.
