Buddo keyring
Own your own travel-sized Buddo to keep you and your keys company on your travels!
Stromness Museum is home to Buddo (an Orcadian term akin to buddy or friend), an extremely rare British Neolithic figurine. One of only a handful of similar human figures from the British Neolithic. Almost 5,000 years old, Buddo was found during excavations at Skara Brae.
Known only from a drawing by George Petrie in the 1860s, the Buddo was lost until Dr David Clarke found the figurine in storage at Stromness Museum in 2016. Buddo is now proudly on display in Stromness Museum. The figurine is made from whale bone with human-like features carved into the likeness of a face. Buddo has been interpreted as a children’s toy or something ritualistic, what do you think?
You can now own your own replica Buddo keyring to carry around with you! These 3D models, made to order in Orkney, have been reproduced for Stromness Museum. Keyring Buddo is a pint-sixed 4cm tall.
